About April ~ Lead Designer & Wedding Consutant
What I love most about my job is the ambiguity of it all. Everyday at work is different. I rarely make or do the same things twice and that's exciting to me.
Weddings have always been my favorite area of floral design because I get to make couples dreams become a reality. Seeing everything come together in the end after countless hours planning and working gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing I was able to create something so beautiful and memorable with my own hands. My personal style, I would say is lush, natural, and inspired by the garden. To me there is nothing better than the presence of lavish foliage and various textured flowers elegantly spilling out of a bouquet. However, I’m very in tuned with my client’s visions and happily adapt to whatever is presented to me and have designed numerous styles of wedding flowers. Surprise me!
If you asked me 8 years ago when I started in the floral industry if I thought I would be where I am today, the answer would be "no". After high school, I went to college and earned my bachelor’s degree in nutrition (totally unrelated, I know) while working part-time as a floral designer in various places. Little did I know, that I would end up working full-time as a florist years later and loving every minute of it. I’ve always had a love for art and enjoy creating other forms of it on my own time (painting and pastels mostly). This, combined with my love of nature, is what contributed to my natural gift for floral design. My passion for flowers shows in my attitude, designs and attention to detail. I am well versed in all areas of floral design from everyday arrangements, to funeral tributes and custom wedding flowers.
